Please sign up and bring your games along and meet others for a fun evening of gaming. Newbies welcome. Incidentally, many of our regular players no longer bother to sign up (but I really wish they would!), so if it looks like only one or two people are coming, there could actually be quite a few more. Remember, I will always cancel a game Meetup if we aren't gaming that day, so you won't be sitting there all by yourself waiting for a friend. $1.00 will be charged to cover the cost Meetup charges and the cost of buying games for the group.
Please sign up if you're planning on playing and bring your favorite games! Newbies are very welcome. We have some great teachers to help you get started on your gaming adventure. Let us know when you sign up what game(s) you'll be bringing. On Sundays there is plenty of free parking on the side streets and even right on Murray. Crazy Mocha serves great coffee, specialty drinks, snacks and pastries. They do allow us to bring food in if we take our trash with us. We usually play all day, break for dinner around 6:00, then it's back to gaming until everybody poops out.

We are located in the back room on the right side of the restaurant when you enter Kings. We have a waitress assigned to our group and they usually do a very nice job of getting our dinner orders, desserts, and refilling our drinks throughout the evening.
The restaurant shuts down at 11:00PM so we have to have our games completed prior.
Thanks to The Big Bang Theory, popular podcasts, and the rise of Nerd Power, gaming is now more popular than ever. Join the library for a chance to trade your thousand-plus cable channels and the rabbit holes of YouTube for some real fun with real people –plus a rule book and a table top!
Like boardgames and card games and find yourself looking for a friendly, open group of like minded folks to throw some dice with? MEEPLE is for you. Come on out to the Carnegie Library in Oakland for an afternoon of great games and laughs. Regular attendees bring all sorts of games from simple to sophisticated, for those into gateway games to those into complex Euros. There’s a space and place for all players.
You won’t find a warmer welcome!
First timers, new and inexperienced players are encouraged to attend.
And remember, because this is a MEEPLE event, it’s low drama and high fun – if you don’t know these games, you’ll have no trouble getting folks to teach ’em to you.
Hello Western PA Gamers!
We continue to have strong turnouts at this venue so we have updated our meetups to be every Friday with the exception of the first Friday of the month.
The venue has a nice variety of hot food, snacks, Starbucks, beer, wine, and is open 24 hours!
It is first come, first serve on the seating but as members begin arriving we can throw some games on the larger tables to reserve them. The venue probably has over twenty tables and the room can comfortably hold over 60 people. It does get a little crowded at dinner time but thins out after 7:00 or so and is pretty much empty after 9:00.
This is a great centrally located spot where our Airport area players can get to quickly as well as the Northern and City players. This location is probably only 15-20 minutes from the Fort Pitt tunnel.
We have just introduced a new looking for players mechanism to help gamers find available seats for games. If you are looking to join a game of host one that you want to play we have plastic cones available to use. If you see a cone on a table with a board game box the game host is looking for players for that game. We are currently using three colors of cones: Green-Easy, Yellow-Medium, Red-Hard. We may introduce other colored cones (e.g. party, adult, etc…) but we will stick with the three for now.
A little about what we play…
Today’s board games come in all different shapes, sizes, themes, components, and our group plays all kinds. Here are some examples of the types of games we play…
Party games like: Codenames, Spyfall, and Dixit.
Euro-style games like: Scythe, Five Tribes, Orleans, Puerto Rico, Viticulture, and Lords of Waterdeep.
Gateway games like: Ticket to Ride, Splendor, Carcassonne, and Caton.
Cooperative games like: Pandemic, Flash Point, and Dead of Winter.
Abstract games like: Qwirkle, Blokus, and Hive.
Card games like: Dominion, Glory to Rome, Diamonds, and Muchkin.
Those are just a few of the games that can be seen being played at our meetups every week.
Our members come in all shapes and sizes and span from young to older but all seem to have a great time when we get together!
Our organizers try to be very accommodating to new players and try to pick games appropriate to your skill level and that we think you would enjoy. Our goal is to get you enthusiastic about the hobby.
If there is a game that you would like to try out just r.s.v.p. to one of our meetups and suggest it down in the chat. Chances are that one of us has it in our collection and we can bring it out.
Look forward to introducing the hobby to many more players and continued good times with our regulars.
Please r.s.v.p. early so I have an idea on how many people or coming and what games to bring along. You can always cancel your r.s.v.p. if you have a change of plans.
Attendance at our events is always free but if you like Western PA Gaming please consider showing your support by making a donation using the Chip In button or donate some unloved games. In the future, we are going to start having door prizes, raffles, and tournaments and your contributions will help fund the operating costs of the group and prizes for the events.
See you soon!
